One sequence, ten units, in order

From the guides
- How to Teach Blending Sounds
Blending pushes sounds into a word. Compare chunking with sounding out, and use this correction when a child guesses from the first sound.
- Consonant blends: l, r, and s lists, and the digraph test
Consonant blends keep every sound. Here are l-blends, r-blends, and s-blends, final s-blends, and how they differ from digraphs.
- Consonant-le Syllables: Count Back Three
Divide consonant-le words by counting back three letters. See table, apple, turtle, and needle, plus when the consonant before le doubles.
Questions teachers ask
How do I get the files?
Right after checkout you download one ZIP. It holds a Start Here guide and one ZIP per unit, so you can open just the unit you are teaching. Nothing ships.
Which grades is this for?
Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade. Units 1–3 start in kindergarten, units 4–7 are 1st grade (6 and 7 run into 2nd), and units 8–10 are 2nd grade. Each unit is tagged with its grades.
Do I need a color printer?
No. Every PDF comes in a color edition and a black-and-white edition, on US Letter paper.
Can I use it next to the reading program my school uses?
Yes, as extra practice next to the program you already teach. It doesn't replace your program, and it doesn't claim to match one.
Free worksheets exist. Why buy this?
A free sheet is fine for one skill. This is the whole sequence in one place, checked and in order, so you aren't piecing it together from different sites. Look inside each set before you decide.
Can I edit the files?
The lesson decks are PowerPoint files: open and edit them in Microsoft PowerPoint or Apple Keynote after you install the included Andika font. The class tracker is an Excel workbook for Microsoft Excel. Every word on the slides is editable text. The printable sets are PDFs and print as they are.
Can I share the files with my grade-level team?
Each purchase is a single-classroom license: one teacher, one classroom. The license is on page 2 of every PDF.
